Welcome, I'm Karen. Life can be unpredictable and some experiences can cause reactions we don't fully understand. Counselling can help gain relief and clarity, helping you to find a healthier way forward. Facing your concerns or fears can feel empowering, helping you to feel more in control. My aim is to provide a warm, welcoming safe environment where together we can explore any worries, problems or issues that are causing you any distress, sadness or anxiety.
About me and my practice
With counselling you will gain an understanding of why you are feeling the way you are, working together on an equal level we can find a healthier way forward. I understand that revealing your thoughts and feelings to a stranger is not always easy, I have utilised therapy myself in previous years for things such as post-natal depression, work-related anxiety and empty nest syndrome and I found the experiences positive and immensely invaluable. As a trained counsellor I am able to provide to you a confidential, non-judgemental and empathic environment where trust can be built, allowing exploration to flow naturally when the time is right for you. I will support you and encourage you throughout.
I have over 30 years experience in both educational settings and the NHS working with varying age groups and mental health issues such as bi-polar, autism and ADHD. I am a member of BACP ( British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I have extensive experience working in the education sector as a school counsellor for young people aged from 11years as well as working with several UK based universities and colleges.
My private practice offers a beautiful restful and relaxing therapy room although I also offer online and telephone sessions as well as highly therapeutic eco-friendly walk and talk sessions (weather permitting).
Over the last few years I have expanded my knowledge and experience in working with various different organisations such as Social Services, Victim Support, Action for Children and the Fire service for example. Continuing professional development is my priority to ensure I deliver the best services I can to all my clients. We will work together to form a therapeutic relationship in complete confidence without any judgement. I will really listen to you and help you manage the future.
I offer adult or young people short or long term therapy to suit your needs.
